We are proud to announce our partnership with the Brooklyn Autism Center to be one of eight startups competing in the 2016 MedStartUp Awards. CommunicoTool is nominated for the Best Patient Engagement Technologies category. The MedStartUp Awards is a combined effort between The Galien Foundation and Business France to recognize and reward partnerships between French and North American innovators in the Life Science Industry.
The Brooklyn Autism Center, also known as BAC, is a non profit school dedicated to providing high-quality education to children with autism between the ages of 5-16. They utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which is the only teaching method scientifically proven to show consistent progress for children with autism. With the BAC’s proven track record, we knew it was a match made in heaven.
Therefore our goal together is to integrate effective assistive communication into students’ routines to help them in their language and development disorders. We will use the BAC’s existing network and resources to empirically test and analyze the effectiveness of our Schedule module that will be tailored specifically for the students. We hope the schedule module will allow children with autism to gain an assortment of benefits including confidence with their communication, independent decision making and increase in social behavior.
The MedStartUp Awards can help us and the BAC gain critical international visibility and credibility as experts in the autism community. Winners will be announced on October 27, 2016 by the World Renown Scientific Committee in New York City’s Alexandria Life Sciences Center and American Museum of Natural History. Let’s rally the whole autism community with hope for great things to come!
